Choose a question with an easy exit
Use a preference, not a personal accusation. Ask whether pineapple belongs on pizza, rather than who ruined last Friday's dinner. Everyone can pass, change sides or stop. Keep real disputes, private details and decisions about health, money or safety off the table.
A 20-minute plan
- Minutes 0–2: agree on the rules. Equal turns, no interruptions and a pass whenever someone wants one. Pick one prompt together.
- Minutes 2–8: make your case. Go around the table. Each person gets up to a minute to choose a side and explain one reason. A smaller group can finish early.
- Minutes 8–14: switch sides. Invite each person to make the best case for the view they did not choose. This is optional; nobody has to defend something that makes them uncomfortable.
- Minutes 14–18: find the hinge. Ask, “What detail would change your answer?” A voice note with a written summary may be a different proposition from a three-minute mystery.
- Minutes 18–20: choose again. Changing your mind is allowed. End with one point you understood better, then choose another prompt or return to dinner.
Keep the room worth returning to
Living Room Conversations' Conversation Agreements recommend curiosity, listening without interrupting, speaking from personal experience and sharing airtime. They also encourage participants to take responsibility for getting a conversation back on track. Our short game uses those ideas as a starting point; the timed rounds and playful prompts above are UR WRONG's own format. The source does not endorse this product.
Try “What makes that work for you?” before a rebuttal. If a joke turns into a real grievance, pause the game. Nobody needs to win for the evening to work.
Take it to the table.
The free warm-up is a text download you can read from your phone or print. For more rounds, the Club contains three text packs with six original prompts each, opposing-case questions and host instructions.
